KAIZEN is an underground sanctuary that facilitates special sound meditations to bring about a deeper awareness of our feelings and mind so that we may live our lives well, with contentment in ourselves and kindness toward others.

What it is...

A sound meditation is an integrative therapy that combines contemplative practices like meditation, breathwork and shamanic journeying with elements of Western psychotherapy. The experience takes place in a ceremonial setting, harnessing the power of ritual and intention to facilitate positive change and personal growth.

With instruments including gongs, tuning forks and Himalayan singing bowls, sound is used as a therapeutic tool to quiet the mind and disengage from unproductive thought patterns. The psychoacoustic properties of the sound initiate a journey of reconnecting with your own inner voice and innate healing intelligence. As the instruments gently guide you into transcendental states of mind, you will be able to safely and comfortably explore buried emotions, repressed memories, personal insights and other realms of your own inner landscape.

The practice has been used to reduce and in many cases eliminate symptoms of PTSD, depression and anxiety, as well as other psychological challenges including grief, self-esteem issues and addictive behaviors. Couples may also use the opportunity to rediscover intimacy or deepen their emotional bond. With thoughtful preparation and integration, guided by your facilitator, a single sound meditation experience can act as a catalyst for deep and lasting personal transformation.

What to Expect...

Each ceremony lasts for roughly six hours. The session begins with an discussion of the sound’s therapeutic properties, how the sound interacts with different states of conciousness, and your role as an active participant. Then, you will then lie back and don an eye mask as a guided breathwork and visualization exercise gently leads you into a meditative state. After the ceremony is finished, there will be time for light snacks and sharing reflections, if you choose.

The sanctuary is nestled atop a religious landmark from the mid-1800s. Every detail of the now renovated space, from the lighting to the surrounding moss walls, has been carefully curated to create a relaxing and sacred environment specifically for this practice.

All guests are welcome to spend the night at the end of their meditation.  A Zen-inspired bedroom with a private bathroom is provided, along with a healthy organic breakfast served in the morning. For guests who wish to extend their stay or for couples desiring even more privacy, a beautifully designed duplex loft adjacent to the sanctuary is also available.
